STANDARD 3-BLADE
Sailors choose the 3-blade Flexofold because, under power, it is the most efficient 3-blade prop available. Yet, it folds into a very low-drag configuration.  Generally speaking, when compared to a 2-blade, the 3-blade will give you better performance when powering against a head sea and while maneuvering in both forward and reverse. In addition, if there is something out of alignment or out of balance in the drive train that can cause vibration, the 3-blade will run a little smoother. As is the case with the 2-blade, looking at the profile and cross-section of the 3-blade Flexofold, you will see a powerful shape that will drive your boat well, converting more of the horsepower into thrust than any other propeller. Yet, the tight triangle formed by the blades when folded, is very low in drag.
 The 3-blade propeller is available in diameters from 15” through 24” in many different pitches in each size. A zinc anode and its mounting plate, cover the blade gears preventing barnacles or other “creatures” from becoming a problem. Like the 2-blade, the 3-blade can be fit most shafts and sail drives.
Reverse performance again is outstanding. In one test, an X-Yachts 482 went from 8 knots ahead to dead-in-the-water in one boat length! Who said a folding propeller can’t back up? They haven’t tried a Flexofold!
